Very nice indeed, gorgeous light and a nice over the shoulder pose. I love how the head stands out against the OOF background, but you still get a sense of how the Grouse blends into the FG. The hints of color from the wildflowers are a nice added touch - well done.

Lovely light. I really like the color palette. I wish it had a little more room at the bottom and a little less at the top. Very minor issue with a great image.

Its a long time since I was last in Yorkshire, and probably longer still since I have seen a nice grouse. Great image, no nits from me.

This is just lovely Andy. The lighting and the colors are superb as are the details. I wouldn't mind seeing a little more room to the left of the frame. :toast:

Nice one, Andy. I agree maybe a little less space at the top, but no big deal.

Andy,

The light is stunning. Love the pose of the grouse, background and eye contact. I'd be happy to have this in my files.

Absolutely beautiful! I agree about perhaps losing a bit off the top, but otherwise a magnificent grouse! :toast:

Excellent detail, especially in the head and gorgeous eye. The light is just wonderful, the 5.6 aperture perfect for achieving separation of subject from bg.
I wonder... why so much empty space at the top of the image vs. cropping down a bit?? I ask because with a bit off the top, bird and viewer come immediately into eye contact, at least for me as I look at the image.
Congratulations on a fine image.

Many thanks to all who commented on this image, and thanks to the Mods for the WP, it is, as ever, very much appreciated.

Hi Catherine, no real reason for all that empty space above the Grouse, I just liked the comp at the time of capture

Congrats to all the other WP'ers too, all are very well deserved.
