Matterhorn Sunrise - An (almost) perfect moment

So this is my second photo that morning, 10 minutes after the previous one. (see my other post) As you can see with the tighter framing I have the problem that the Moon is still high on the sky, too close to the frame. Also it's a pity that the reflection is gone.

So what should I do with the Moon?
- Crop it down or clone out, but I think without it this shot doesn't work.
- Can I clone the Moon a little lower? Is it acceptable ethically? Where is the line for picture modification?

*** Warning! On the larger version I’ve already cloned it lower!

Canon 40D, EF-S 10-22 at 22mm - ekv. 35mm
ISO 100, 1/6 sec at f/8, Tripod, cable release
2 shots, one for the Moon details, levels, curves, burn-dodge

Thank you very much for your comments

On my monitor the edges appear as if the photo is over sharpened.
This is a magnificent setting.
I would clone out the moon altogether.

Very nice! I would clone the moon. It just takes a way to my eye.

Lovely image. I like the sweeping line and intense colors. I like the moon cloned lower, but would also like to see it a bit bigger too.

I think I'd clone the moon out entirely. Maybe if it were bigger but as is it's just distracting. Aside from that, this is a gorgeous image. The thin ice (I think it's ice) in the FG is a wonderful element.

Quite honestly, the moon doesn't bother me that much. Too much is made of distracting elements, in my view. It's things like this that give a photo a bit of individuality. Aesthetically, cloning the moon lower is an improvement but be careful about cloning it so low that its reflection would be expected to be seen...

Nice work (if a tad oversharpened)!

I would either keep the moon where it really was at the time. I definitely prefer your other rendition from here but this is quite nice as well. Delicate yet powerful at the same time. I'm not sure a more photogenic mountain exists.

This is a small mountain lake on 2757m called Riffelsee (see is lake). There is some vegetation in the water, what is visible here.
It was cold in the morning, around -2 celsius, and there was some ice on the ground, but not on the lake. I was there beginning of september.

This is a very nice image Tamas. I would leave it as shot and accept where the moon was.

Both of these, as well as your previous post, are gorgeous. Deciding which one is bestr is "splitting hairs" - great stuff!

Ideally the moon could be a little lower and slightly bigger. Having said that, this image is beautiful!

I have been wanting to go here for years (as I am sure many others)! I also wish the crystals on the lake were not touching the peak of the mountain in the reflection causing just a tad amount of tension there.

Having said that I still think the image is a serious winner!
