Hello everyone. Here is a pic I captured while visiting the Botanical Garden in Albuquerque. I was told thre are always a few in their pond/lake each year. C&C welcomed and encouraged.
Camera - Nikon 300s, Lense - Nikon 70-300, Exposure - 1/30, Aperture - F5.6, ISO - 200, Exposure Bias - +1/3 EV, Metering - Multi Segment, Manual, Hand Held.

The centered comp just doesn't work for me on this, but you have captured very nice details. A lower angle may have helped. A view more from the side with that nice eye on one of the thirds would be more appealing imo. Sharon

Nice sharp feather and eye detail detail here. I also like the color in the eye and bill. I might have cropped a little more off the left side so its not quite as centered but that is just a personal choice. I agree that a lower camera angle would probably be better. Do you know what kind of duck this is?

stunning detail, especially handheld at 1/30--very good technique to pull that off. personally I'd think about composing it with a little more on the bottom and perhaps a bit off the left.

Robert,

You have lovely details in this frame, great eye contact and you handled a challenging exposure well. I might consider toning down the bright area of the LRC as it pulls my eyes away from the duck. It looks like a young Wood Duck to me.
