Yellow Wagtail

My first post for a while, just haven't been doing much photography. Anyway, I was in Oxfordshire for 3 days last week and found a family of Yellow Wagtails, although the young had long fledged, but were still around. Sadly they never came closer despite me sitting at the edge of the field for hours! This male would sing from the highest broad bean plants, which were towards the middle of the field, so I opted for a small in the frame shot.

Techs:
Nikon D300s
Nikon 200-400mm at 400
Handheld
F5.6
1/500s
ISO 400

Hi Oscar. I like the composition and landscape style here, especially as the wagtail stands out so well. Did you think about removing the bits of foliage in the top right corner?

:wavey: was wondering where you went, thought after your exams we would see loads of shots making up for all that revision time away from the camera. Echo Bobs moments really though, are you really Bob giving advice to spend more time in front of a computer   Good to see you back Oscar :toast:

Hi Oscar, nice and different, works really well with the green and yellow. As has already been mentioned I would clone out the foliage in the top right. :toast:

Missed your posts, Oscar, and glad to see you back. I am not sure this works as a bird shot as such, but it certainly works as what I will call a landscape for want of a better term. That bit of vegetation top right does have to go though!

I like small in frame images Oscar and the contrasting colours work well here - I do agree though that the foliage top right ought not to be in shot..... :wavey:

A well thought out composition, Oscar :toast: Even though it's small in frame the composition gives the wagtail plenty of impact. Nice one.

Great shot Oscar. Small in frame works really well. Personally I wouldn't clone the white foliage but instead change the format to a 7x5 allowing a sliver to be cropped from the right and placing the bird right on a vertical thirds line. :toast:
