On this day recently, I was looking for birds but, as is often the case, they were hiding from me too successfully. However, as is also often the case, this beautiful bird substitute showed up!

Learning from my previous posts, I decided to present the butterfly and its perch as a processed photographic image while limiting my painting efforts to the bg. As previously I used Painter 12 and CS5.

The original image was obtained with a 1D Mark IV, 400 mm f/5.6, 1.4x TC, hand held: ISO 1250, 1/1000 s, f/11, 0 EV, NR, exposure adjustment, sharpening.

All comments most welcome.

This works very well. a nice sharp subject and beautiful painted bg, lovely colors. The image as a whole just shouts "Summertime!".

Really like the watercolor or pastel effect. The original image is outstanding to begin with... the enhancements makes it a work of art. :toast:

Steve, What a beautiful painting. I can just see this printed large on canvas.

Very lovely,

Regards,

Carol

PS The birds are hiding. I don't even see or hear any unless I'm up and moving quite early.

Looks very nice in the LP Steve, I think the image is perfect for this added painterly look..
Also think leaving the BF alone and limiting the effect to your BG is the right way to go.
Well done!

Steve:
Beautiful. Looks like the BF landed on a watercolor painting.
