Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum)

Hey Bill -- Is this big enough flora for you?

This is my take on this world record sequoia. According to a sign posted nearby this is the largest tree in the world by volume--52,500 cubic feet.

I guess I need a tilt $hift lens to get straight trees on the edge, but I sort of like the way they appear to be drawn in by the gravity of the giant.

Nikon D700; Nikkor 24-85 @24, @f/5.6, ISO 400, tripod
Two exposure blended:
1/500s -1.33
1/250s -0.33

Comments and criticisms always welcome.

David: Big flora indeed! I was thinking of posting one of him as well but will defer to your excellent capture. Really nicely done. >=))>

Hey David ever tried a vertical pano stitch? It can be done, that way you get the whole tree. Nice job I tried getting a good image of the Grizzly Giant in the Mariposa Grove and failed miserably. I'm going to revist the file and see if I can work up one. Gigantic flora indeed.

Amazing tree. Makes me feel young and small just looking at it. I agree that the "gravitational" effect adds to the image. Nicely done

David:
Wow what a massive tree. Miro's picture gives some perspective on the size. Impressive how you are able to capture this in one frame. :toast:
