I had a rather incredible day yesterday way up in the NW cornerr of South Dakota. I'd never seen these guys, much less photographed them. After a day Saturday where I heard one but couldn't photograph it, yesterday I found a spot where I heard a number of these guys. I took my chair blind and moved it into the area, and ended up getting many photos of some very active birds.

Canon 50D, 400 5.6L, ISO 400, 1/320, f5.6, 430EX @ -1 2/3.

Excellent! A very hard to see bird her in the winter when they stay hidden under the grasses of the same color as the birds. Nice to finally see what they really look like!

Nice comp, and very good detail. I like the soft flower accents as well.

Neat find Terry and you've certainly presented the bird well. The sparrow looks very good and I like the natural setting. Well done.

Great detail in this hard-to-see bird. I think I would take a little off the left and leave him less centered.

Really a clean, detailed bird, Terry. Looks like your wait paid off well.......good contrast to the greenery, too.
