Child play

We were entertained by a troop of Chacma baboons recently. In the troop were a number of very small baboons who climbed and played the morning away. All off them seemed to be drawn to this dead branch. The image was taken early morning just after sun rise so I had to juggle shutter speed and low ISO constantly with these moving targets.

Camera Model Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
Shooting Mode Manual Exposure
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/1250
Av( Aperture Value ) 7.1
Metering Mode Spot Metering
ISO Speed 640
Auto ISO Speed ON
Lens EF500mm f/4L IS USM
Focal Length 500.0mm
White Balance Mode Auto
AF Mode AI Servo AF

Cracking good pose here Neal! Lovely light and expression...wish this was mine. Baboons are so much fun to photograph, even more so if they are playing out in the open. Once again I would suggest toning down overall highlights through a luminosity mask to really make this "pop" even more  :toast:

Great pose and interesting perch. I love the facial expression and the quality of the eyes. I agree a tweak in brightness will make it even better.

A true beauty, young baboons are almost as much fun as young elephants!!

The eyes are remarkable.

A gorgeous image Neal, both the pose and the facial expression are priceless! The shooting techs look just right. I do agree on toning this down a tad.
