A Piece of a Photo

I love to make images out of a piece of another photo. This often times creates a much simpler image that can be just as effective as the full photo. This photo is a piece of my Portland Head Lighthouse image that I posted a couple weeks ago and can be seen in my Gallery. I'd love to know your thoughts on this piece of an image.

Hi Carol. I'm glad to see I'm not alone, I too like to make images from other photos. I like what you've done with this one. The fluffy clouds and the blue sky add wonderful color and contrast and nice placement of the lighthouse using the rule of thirds. Well done.

This is something that I can't remember ever having done. I went to your gallery to see the whole image. It's a winner. This one does stand on it own. The clouds are marvelous. You did good on this excerpt.

Carol - Normally chopping the bottom of the lighthouse wouldn't work for me, but I think the base of the clouds anchor the image for me. The clouds are pretty cool as a subject of their own.
