Red Tail Action

I believe this is an immature Red Tail Hawk (please correct if I'm Wrong). Like the action of this image although, the background is a bit busy. Sometimes to catch the action you don't have a choice on background.
Canon 1DMKIII, 700mm, ISO 400, F 6.3, 1/2000 sec.

Really nice action Bob, I think this is a Swainson's Hawk :toast:

Nice eye and upper wing detail!
You can always choose to clone out errant branches that interfere with the image..

Good stop action with the position of the head in the clear to be easily seen. The outstretched talons in shadow mix interestingly with the dead branch. You do have a little hot spot in the whites above the tail. Perhaps that can be toned down? Nice shot!

Neat action Bob, I don't mind the branches in this frame at all. Like Nate, I believe this is a Swainson's. The head seems to be a touch soft to my eye, that could have been from motion or perhaps the focus was slightly off because the shutter speed was high enough to freeze the movement.
