Dark wood with all the associated texture provides excellent contrast for the yellow leaf, Todd . Serrations on the leaves also go well with the structure of the wood. Only one question I have is why did you trim the end of the leaf with the right edge ?

Ram thanks for the comment. As far as the right edge....I guess there is two ways to compose a pic. One way is to include the edges of subject in the frame. The other is to purposely cut off the edge of the subject, After taking a little longer look at this I kinda wish I would have given the leaf more room. Or use a smaller leaf. The leaf seems to take up to much room in the photo. But If I remember correctly the burnt area of the log wasn't that big so if I would of backed up the ground would have entered the frame. I hope I answered your question.

Thanks for clarifying, Todd. I understand the practicality of the situation better now.

Todd,
I like this as posted. I agree with Ram about seeing more of the log if possible and understand it not being there. You did well to see these textures and to appreciate the contrast and similarities between the two. The colors are very good together also.

Todd:
Nice contrast color, shape and texture of leaf with charcoal in the bg. Nicely seen or arranged and captured.

I really like the textures here, especially in the log.

Todd: I don't mind the stem being cut off but I do wish the leaf didn't take up quite so much room in the frame. OTOH the colors and textures are excellent. Nicely done. >=)>

Like the others Todd, I would like to see more, but that is not always an option. Well composed.

Nice color combo and the subjects work well for the difference in textures.
