Excellent work on an uncommon species. Sweet background, too.

Verdon, I like the even light on the bird, excellent head turn and the nice background colors. Not sure what the splotchiness is in the darker parts of the background - perhaps compression issues since this is only 54 kb? This looks like a Loggerhead Shrike to me but I'm no expert.

I also believe this to be a Loggerhead Shrike. It has a broad eye mask and no eye ring. The Northern Shrike has a narrow mask and a narrow white eye ring. Also, though it is hard to tell with the head turn, the Loggerhead has a stubbier bill than the Northern.

Excellent detail and a classic pose, with a good head turn and nice catchlight. The BG is somewhat blotchy, but that is a very minor issue to me.

Thank you very much for your comments, the little specs/dots in the BG is the price of small resolution, I was looking again to the "smart book" and I have to tell that you right it isn't northern one (even according to the spot where I got the shot...), I will correct that right the way! Thank you again, Verdon! :wavey:
