Hello all....

It's been a while since I've been able to get onto NPN....moving across a number of state lines and spending a ton of time in the field will do that to a person, I suppose!

So, on my last full day in the Tetons during a recent trip, I decided to set up for sunrise in a less common/less traditional area of the park. Rather than heading for the usual suspects...we decided to head straight for a vast grass field that we'd seen the previous day.

My goal on this shoot was to set up for a pano of the Teton range...as I'd always been a believer in the idea that that particular range begged for this format. Hopefully, this one came out acceptably.

I'm open...as always...to all comments, critiques, and thoughts. Thank you for looking!

Robert

Classically beautiful, Robert. I'm just going to move it over to the Man and Nature forum where it belongs. I like the pop you've given to the mountain range here.

This one needs to be viewed large so thanks for uploading that Robert!
I love the perspective here and the overall mood. It does feel as though the colours are 'pushed' a bit ito saturation (might just be my tired eyes  ). That being said I love the view of the Tetons you managed here...makes me want to be there. :toast:

Thanks Mark...shows how long I've been absent! Thanks for the feedback Morkel...as for being viewed large...the shot (after I put it all together) is about 60mp at this 6x17 crop. So, yeah...I think it does beg to be viewed large!

I've gone back and forth with the sky in this one regarding saturation. It's actually pulled down from the native images...but I've also pulled a lot of the blue hue out of the mountains in an attempt to give them a chance to be seen as a point of focus rather than blending too much with the sky. Perhaps the resulting contrast is rougher on the sky (may just be my aging eyes)...

Side Note: All my Tetons comps from this trip had a rough blue tone to the snow on the mountains in the RAW...and none of them looked realistic to my eye until some of the blue was pulled out.

Hey Robert - You're out of Boston? I think this scene was perfect for the pano. Not sure if this was a single cropped or multiple images, but looks sharp throughout. I would agree with a previous coment that the sky and cluds look too blue. Maybe decrease the blue saturation selectively or maybe try pushing the blues and cyans a little yellow. Sure is a lot of snow still on those thar hills. The snow looks natural to me, and the large view is a must for this one. Not sure if a polarizer was used, but some un-eveness in the upper portions of the sky maybe due to using one - especially noticeable in the central and far left clouds.

Thanks all for the feedback and thoughts!

@Harry...I'd spent the last 5 years living in Boston, but just recently relocated back toward the area that I grew up in (Eastern PA). And it was definitely multiple images put together (see my second post for a few details). No polarizer was used...but this was an image in almost predawn light...and I think that has something to do with the unusual coloring of the clouds.

Regardless....I've got a little more experimentation to do before this one is finalized!

Thanks again all!

Excellent pano Robert. I could see this printed huge like a Peter Lik.

@Mark.....hilarious. Multiple-image panos are pretty rare for me...it's really just not my usual thing...but I really felt that the location called for it. As for printing large...I just wanted to preserve as much detail in a shot that had so much going on as I could.
