Astilbe leaves

This new growth on one of my Astilbe plants caught my eye when I was strolling through my gardens. The BG was too busy so I drapped some black velvet behind it. I love the textures and the bright green color.

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/32 for 1.3 sec. ISO 400.

Very dramatic with the black BG. I love the textures and hairy stems. Any reflectors or diffussers used?

Wow! That black background really makes the details pop! The light is just gorgeous too. This is fantastic. Well done!

Charlie, no reflectors or diffusers. This was in the shade and had its own glowing color which is what caught my eye in the first place. Slight saturation in processing.

Carolyn:
Very dramatic with the black bg. Do you carry the black velvet with you all the time?

Beautiful color and detail. You might be convincing me to try draping something for the background at times.

Gary, yes I do carry this with me. I have an 18" square piece of black velvet that I keep folded up in a pocket of my camera bag. It does get wrinkly but any BG irregularities that show are easily fixed in processing..

What a lovely bright green. All of the hairs and points on the leaves make this look like a plant to avoid, but we all know better. Nice job with the background.
