Pacific Wren

OK, I admit before last week, I didn't even know such a thing existed. One of my "targets" in Oregon was a Winter Wren. Oh my god...these little dudes were just as vocal as House Wrens around here, but they have a nasty habit of singing from the middle of the densest brush they can find. I don't know how many I stalked before getting this guy in the semi-open.

And it wasn't until I got back that I learned Winter Wrens were split into 3 species, including Pacific Wren.

Canon 50D, 400 5.6L, 1/60, f5.6, 430EX. Is about a 50% crop.

Nice job on tracking this one down. Wrens can be tough. You have excellent detail here. Even low on the breast where I would have expected shadows instead. Well done.

Excellent, Terry. I've never even had a shot at one. A Winter Wren by any other name would sound as sweet.

nice one, Terry. not only are they skulkers, they're tiny too! I like how the habitat seems to emphasize the small size of the bird.

Terry, Your persistence paid off. I like this comp a lot. The saucy little wren amongst the greenery is perfect.
