Had a job cropping this. Leaving the whole bunch in didn't balance very well. Not sure about this. Grasses can be beautiful when viewed closely.Whites blown a bit I,m affraid.

John:
I like the bright colours here like Christmas lights and the random clustering. I am sure you have a hard time cropping this but overall looks okay. I might perhaps make the one in LLC disappear but other than that its fine. I don't know if you shot raw and if you do, you could perhaps recover the whites and then convert to jpeg for CZM. An engaging image overall.

John,

The composition works for me. I might crop out the cut leaf?(I'm sure that's not the correct term) on the right. I guess I wouldn't worry about the whites here. I can't tell that you've lost any detail and would consider them speculars. Interesting lighting, great bg (smiie) and a fascinating subject.

An obviously tricky one to crop, John, but i think you've done a pretty good job. I like the all-over effect of the shapes and colours on the black bg.

Thanks all, for your input. I don't shoot raw -mainly becuse with the programmes I have it seemed to take ages processing. I was coming home from a bird session with several hundred images and finding I was sitting there for two nights ! Even the extra pixels in the D7000 has made a time difference compared to the D200. I could try raw on the smaller number of flower pics etc.

This is just not one of my favorites that you've shown John. Maybe the clipped branches, I am not sure.

Very unique and quite interesting in it's structure and patterns. Very well done.

John: I don't see an obvious alternative crop and in fact I like this pretty much as is. Well seen and captured. >=))>
