The Shetland trip has come to an end. Still recovering from laughing so much. Ten days on these islands has been great. Not many puffins this year but good numbers of arctic and great skuas. Also the weather has been kind to us. Not much sun but at least it was dry. A place I have really enjoyed and will return to the Shetlands in the future. The Shetlands are a great place for Skuas holding over half of the World population. They are best known as the pirates of the bird world. An incredible bird. Check my Facebook page for more images.

I share your enthusiasm Edwin - a wonderful place. I noticed too that the puffins numbers were low - I wonder I it's down to the numbers of Bonxie that are doing so well there.

I guess this one was coming in for a low pass at you - well caught :wavey: :toast:

Really nice Bonxie pic - I spent a summer counting them on Shetland many years ago and some sort of hat is definitely required!
