Olympus E5, 150mm, 2xTC, f6.3, 1/640, ISO100 handheld out vehicle window

First of all, thanks for the comments on the first 2 juvie photos, they are greatly appreciated.

The 4 mornings I spent with these juvies were incredible. I got so many poses, I don't know what to do with them all. The feeding process was amazing to watch and try to capture. They call out into the field with the parent out hunting. When they see the parent start coming back, they get excited, puff up like a giant fluff ball and then start raising their wings in the air, like a beacon to say "here I am". When the delivering parent is just about to arrive, they raise their wings straight up and lean back on the post slightly to make room for the delivery...all the while calling excitedly. The delivery is cool, and I captured a couple of full sequences. At times the juvie with the delivered vole is immediately set upon by another juvie who tries to take it away....usually unsuccessfully. The juvies haven't quite mastered how to best eat the vole and peck at it a lot. They usually jump to the ground to do the real eating and are then sometimes set upon by another. I'll have a couple of the sequential shots in the future, but this is the result of the delivery service in action.

Just love the colors here Dave. And the behavior. Great to get the eyes of the vole, with catchlight.

Very nice image, great interest with the fresh prey. Like the monochromatic look and warmth here.
I especially like the POV of the action, well done! :toast:

Interesting to read about you wonderful experience with these owls and their behavior. I like the way this juvenile is holding the vole with the leg up and getting ready to munch. This image just seems a little darker than the others however a wonderful series of owl images, way to go, looks like a great encounter.

Wow...

Just wow...

Like everyone else (I assume), I have found gthis series has been spellbinding.

With the previous (twisted head) shot as a cover, you could well put together a book! :toast: :toast:

Enjoyed all these images on my iPad and had to come back on the desktop for a second round. Your skills, composition and subject matter are exquisite.
