I had so much fun photographing the puffins at Machias Seal Island last month. What a blast! I hope you enjoy my puffin photos.

Critiques and comments are very welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

The LP looks excellent Carol. Very nicely exposed & great details/colors..Maybe a tiny bit less behind, just a suggestion. This works fine too.
I've seen this often photographed bird many times, but it never fails to amaze
Well done! :toast:

This is nice Carol. Very effective to get the heads and eyes of most of the fish facing us. Exposure and colors look good to my eye. I'll bet the experience shooting these birds was a blast for you.

It must have been fun, Carol--what a great bird. love the fish heads/eyes, and good looking exposure and detail. a wider aperture could have smoothed out the bg a bit, but very nice as is.

Excellent job on the exposure of the Puffin, Carol. I like how all three fish have their heads toward the camera.

Puffins have one of the most interesting faces that a bird can have (at least for me). Nice job handling the black & white feather contrast and the fish in the mouth adds the finishing touch, way to go, sounds like a fun experience.

Wonderful image Carol. The bird has the little fish all lined up eyes facing forward.

Very, very nice. Exposure looks spot on with excellent detail in dark and white areas. I love the eye contact with the fish.

I remember that you were concerned about exposure, but you nailed the whites, Carol. Wonderful pose, and the fish are a great addition. I agree that a larger aperture might have helped the background a bit as a tiny nit. By the way, the Gerlachs have done HDR's on stationary black and white animals (and puffins would qualify) to deal with the contrast. I would like to try that the next time around.
