Rose and crystal

Nikon D300, 50mm, F/9, O.77sec, ISO 200.

All we have is rain in Quebec, and it's hard to get a perfect flower. I saw the blemishes but liked the colors, I hope you do too. The crystal vase is oval and gives the illusion of being not vertical when placed diagonally. Comments appreciated.

I like it. The light on the vase makes it stand out. What did you use for the surface, if I may ask. I love a reflection shot!

Another beauty, Albert! Great lighting control, as well as background and dof-pof.

Albert, I was about to type the tilt in the Vase/Table while parallelly reading what you had written. What an illusion !. Really like the colors and the lighting and how the leaves kind of bracket the bloom

Albert:
You are really getting better and better in this portraits. The flower is gorgeous and a leaves add a lot to the composition. I am not sure whether I like the vase or flower more but since there are integral part of the comp, there look terrific. The reflection is really nice too. Just as an alternative to explore, I wonder what this would look like with the reflection slightly dimmer or graduated so that its darker near the lower edge. :toast:

Beautiful flower Albert. The lighting helps keep my eye focused on the rose, but then it moves to the vase. I think the lighting might be a tad too bright on the left portion of the vase for my taste, because the rose is splendid and I feel as if it takes the focus off where it should be. Outside of that, nicely done.

I agree with you Albert, the colours are fabulous. I like the comp and light very much. The vase reflection works very well and the illusion of being level or not adds interest in studying the image. The only suggestion and it's a very small one is I wonder how it would look if the window reflection within the reflection on the table was less prominent?

Albert,

I don't think I'd change a thing. Flower, vase and reflection are all beautiful and all work together for my tastes. Splendid work. Oh, I'll just add that I like the light very much as well.

The rose is nice, but the vase steals the show. Very nice.

Superbly crafted image Albert! The lighting is wonderful, the flower is beautiful, and the reflection is perfect. I think the thing I like most is the tension you've created. Every time my eye rests on the vase, it goes back to the flower which really keeps my interest too. Two thumbs up!!!

Just superb, Albert !! Wonderful high contrast lighting which brings the flower to prominence, and nice reflection on the table. This, for me, is quite the best of the series.

Your minature series is very nice and this one as stunning as the rest. The crystal is particularly fine in this one, actually steals the show. Between the vase and it's fine reflection, the rose takes a back seat (which is unfortunate because it is lovely)
