Really nice detail and pattern, particularly in the larger version Charlie. Perfect supporting bg. I like this as posted. No suggestions.

Very nice. Composition, bg, detail...you nailed this one. Can't quite figure out what the little purple thing is. I thought it was a butterfly but the larger version suggests otherwise. Guess I'm going blind. Great image.

Nancy Lea, you may never have looked closely at a Queen Ann's Lace, but most of their blooms have a single purple bloom in the center. Not all have it and when I was choosing one to take inside to try to get away from wind, this one had the most distinct center bloom and so it was chosen. Look closer at this beautiful and very common weed. You will enjoy it.

Love this Charlie! I was passing by some of this on the roadside the other day, and wondered how many people pass it by without even a glance. It's really a wonderfully intricate plant, and you've captured that essence perfectly.

Wonderful patterns against a BG that sets them off. I am not sure about the comp and balance of this within the frame. (for my own taste)

Charlie: I like this as is but think it would be even better if you cropped to fill the frame with the white blossoms and then had the purple bloom at a power point and a little bigger to give it more prominence. You did a great job on the whites and DOF. >=))>

Yes, Gary I think this wildflower some say weed is very attractive and i have been waiting for them to open wide.
I'm not so satisfied with the comp either and settled on this because the top part is significantly oof, but as Bill mentions the whites gave me real trouble and this shot was the only one of many that the whites were not blown. This shot was with a 2.0 EV. I'm going to spend some more time with this wildflower now that they are opening wide.
Hey bill I have a confession to make. This was a stack of 12 frames and being the amateur that I am with stacking I should have done 3 or 4 more frames to get the upper part in focus. I'm still not convinced this is a technique that I will continue with very long.

Really nice dof for the eye to explore here. Nice light and treatment of the whites as well. Good work.

Charlie:
Nice capture of this wildflower. Without reading Bill's comment, I also thought frame filling white. Good stack btw.

Wonderful take on this flower, as if it's flowing downward. The black bg looks a tad washed out on my monitor, but outside of that, this is beautiful.

Thank you all for comments and suggestions. This was an experiment and it turned out to my liking, but I still have a way to go. As to the background, it is not black, it is a dark brown cloth that I use on most everything I shoot inside under the lights. I sometimes use a separate cheap flourescent above the backdrop to light it and you may have seen some of mine with a brownish BG. I do want to get some filter material and use it under the backdrop light to have some variation.
Thanks again to all for you helpful comments.
