Red Rock Reflection

Sorry for not being around lately. Life just keeps getting in my way.
I was able to get out Saturday morning to Red Rock Lake in Brainard Lake Recreation area here in Colorado.

There are many rocks in this small lake and they make for interesting subjects. Especially scattered among the water lillies.

Commnets and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

That's really cool working this simple subject into a really nice comp and working the light so well. Selective focus and the reflection do a great job of putting the emphasis on the stone.

Great way of zeroing in on a subject and making it something special! Love the reflection and framing.

Good use of a strong subject to fill the frame. The low telephoto viewpoint works well.

Wow, I find this shot very, very impressive. This seems like one of those "typical" scenes that when presented in the right way (which you have done) can be really meaningful and spectacular. Obviously, the light has some nice direction to it, but is not in the spectacular category, yet definitely falls in the difficult category. You masterfully tamed the highlights while retaining the shadows, while still bringing out some very pleasant tones in the rocks, vegetation, and water. The composition is very important to the success of this image, and your low vantage point allowed you to get a great reflection while including the bonus water lilly details. The rock has a powerful triangular shape, and doubling it in the reflection maximizes its power. I also like the color scheme in the rock, which features a nice pastel combo of blues, reds and neutrals. The surrounding greenery and tree trunks add some nice interest as well. I commend you for recognizing the potential of this scene, and executing your vision marvelously!

A really nice, intimate image. Perfect reflection and the greens seem lush and full. This is great

Dramatics image. The composition is great and your selection of aperture gives just the right amount of oof to the background forest scene while leaving enough detail there to encourage wondering around your total image. Very, very impressive.

Really nice Morris! I like how the rock is reflected so well, but the rest of the background is more oof in the reflection. Adds to the impact of this shot. Well seen!

Pretty cool, Morris! I like the dof. Feels a tad tight, but close (or i should say far) enough...
Keep tabs on the Roxborough flowers for me

Great job to make a compelling shot out of a scene that I honestly would have probably walked right by.

I really like what you have done here, Morris. The low POV and DOF selections are just right for this scene. Great eye to spot this; I probably would have walked right on by.

There's a beautiful, Zen like, simplicity here that I just love. Well seen, Morris. It feels ever so tight to me. Not a problem, but more an artistic choice. I think this could also work well as a B&W or with an orton effect.

Hey Morris,
Love the perspective. Its like you rose from the water and took the shot. This one has a calming mood attached to it.
Hope you got some lillies as well.

Thanks for sharing

I really like the tight, squared comp. Nice geometric shapes created with the reflections of both the rock and the lillies.
