Just found out yesterday that my White-winged Dove won the grand prize in this years Birds & Blooms Backyard Photo Contest.
It's in their August/September special 100th Edition for 2011.
THANK YOU for taking the time to visit their website and cast your vote. It's made my 4th of July celebration today even better..
And the prize money buys a lot of fireworks :)
HAPPY 4th!

I like the motion blur in the wings, the spread feet, and the intent stare of the Dove at his touchdown spot. Excellent landing pose- and congratulations on your Birds & Bloom award Howard!

Awesome shot! I love the spread out wings and his feet coming forward.

Congrats on Birds and Blooms! A few months ago I flipped to the contest page to see if they had anything on, but instead I saw that they were already asking for votes. I looked at the pictures that you had to choose from, and then I saw your image and thought "Hey, I've seen this before!". Again, great image!

Congrats on the prize! Nice landing shot of the dove. Feet, head and body in sharp focus and the wing blur adds to the sense of action.
