Wow, that's very interesting; a complex relationship between the smooth beauty of the water set against the chaotic ugliness of the tangle. Not something a lot of people might shoot, but it appears to be done quite well.

Hi Timothy - I like the left side of this image most. Your shutter speed was a good choice in the sense that it leaves some nice texture in the water. The right side is less appealing to me. While the tree certainly shows the power of water, it also adds a little to much chaos from my perspective. I guess it all depends upon what you are trying to say with the image as to whether or not the tree is a good addition.

Timothy,

I think Sarah sums it up well for me. This certainly tells a story and you've done well to pit one element against the other. From a pure nature and beauty point of view, I could do without the right side. But then that may not have even been what you were looking for, we don't know. Still, a well captured image. I really like the shutter speed and flow of the water.

Thanks to all! I was going for a sense of power and raw natural beauty here. Sometimes, I feel, that the rough and raw power of natures flow are as worthy as asthetics. i chose that POV with this image...

I both like it and dislike it. When I first opened it I liked what I saw, but then noticed the tree had been cut by a chainsaw. Now my eye is pulled there like a magnet and it's ruining the experience for me. I like everything else about it - nice water action, the tangle is very nice (real nature), and the comp is nice - just that darned chainsaw cut is driving me crazy.
