This was taken from an Azalea I was working with a few weeks ago, right before it fully bloomed. I find the shape of the petals more interesting before they open up and that they offer a lot of pattern variations.

D90
100mm
f2.2
1/250
ISO 250
Slight tonal adjustments

C&C welcome and as always, thanks for viewing.

Beautiful Morgan. I really like the very selective focus. Too bad our azalea season is past I have a hankering to observe what you describe of the petals before full opening.

Love those near electric pinks. However, I think it's the composition (pov, dof) that appeals to me most in this. Nothing I'd change. I like the image very much as posted.

Morgan:
Wild looking pink. Nice concept and DOF choice. I wish the pink fills the entire frame (without the green in the RUC). A quick fix would be to crop the green off and make this into a pano - just a suggestion that is worth exploring to see if it would look better.

Excellent image. I like the way the buds recede into the beautiful BG.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Gary, I did try what you suggested before posting and it looked a tad too washed out for my taste. I will explore it further though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Morgan: Sorry to be so late commenting on this. We have a number of azaleas in our garden and I often struggle getting a decent comp. I agree with your take regarding the buds vs the full blooms. I agree with Gary about the URC and would like to see the green go away or perhaps paint some pink in there. I do like your red management and DOF choice. >=))>

Bill and Gary, I've put up a repost with the green portions cloned out.
