Lake Superior Sunset
by Nick Bristol
I'm working on this image getting ready for a print. I posted almost the same shot quite awhile back now, but one again did not put it in my gallery. Hope you don't mind seeing another version of it now. I made this about 2 years ago on Lake Superior. I drove from the north shore (most of the day) getting to the south shore and the Porcupine Mountains. I had this area in mind for the sunset. This spot changes pretty much everyday and I haven't seen it look quite like this since. I enjoyed setting this comp up and then waiting (except for all of the big black flys). The sky got very dark and it even rain a couple of times during the sunset. I hope the print will look really nice. Thanks for looking and any thoughts.

21 commentsCharlie, the print size will be 18 x 38. Thanks, Nick
Beautiful in every respect. I think the narrow format really compliments the scene especially how the tidal pool gently leads to the setting sun. A little dark on the mountain ridge on the left, but I'm not sure I would want to play with that and disturb the darkness of the looming darkness overhead. What a great moment in time you've captured.

My only sugestion before go to a print is to clone out that dot in the surface of the water, on top of the submerged trunks.
