Monument Rocks Keyhole 2

Here is one more from my recent night at Monument Rocks in western Kansas. It was taken about 30 minutes after my previous post. Clouds had moved in, and the moon was close to setting. I had changed positions, and had to use some lens correction to fix the odd perspective. 7D, ISO 3200, f/4, 25 sec, 10mm. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

Whoa! This is stunning. Reminds me of a Dali painting less the melting clocks. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Hi Rob - This is an interesting photo. I did not realize that there were stars from looking at the thumbnail, so I am glad that I opened this. The clouds add a nice element, too. Definitely surreal, which I like!

This certainly has an ominous feel to it. Well composed and executed.

The sky is stunning. The Monument Rocks and ground look a little soft to me. Maybe you could sharpen more? Awesome capture and execution.

Pretty bizarre especially with the muted look you went for. Very cool scene! :)

Another wonderfully primordial take on these outcrops. In the large version there seems to be an anomalous star in the upper right that is shining through the stone. A gap in the stone? At any rate, it and the other stars in the upper right could be discretely snuffed out, as I think they draw attention away from the scene visible throught the opening in the arch.

Rob,

Another excellent rendition of this place. I think it's a little more of a standard comp, a simple "window," but nicely executed. I think I prefer the previous image as it's simply a little bit more creative and dynamic. but this one is pretty darn good too.

Very ethereal Rob. I like this a lot. I might be inclined to punch up the whites or contrast but of course that is a matter of taste. The stars in the sky are amazing.

This is an excellent image Rob. I just wish the noise reduction was not effecting the detail as much. But what are you going to do in the middle of the night? :toast:

I think I prefer this post better than the last because the clouds are so cool, but it's pretty close to a toss-up! Great comp and colors.

Another winner in this superb series Rob. All have been very well done, and would make a nice exhibit.
