Little owl

The same pair I worked last year, in the old drying barns. Two young this time -three last. The awful blue in the back is a tractor tyre.
Done late evening tonight. Sun one minute -shade the next. This is a natural stare. She is looking at my foot out the bottom of the hide. This bird is so tame she will not look at the camera unless you do something.
D7000 640 ISO Sigma 50-500 mm
185th sec @f8
90 % of full frame
Hide Tripod, and flask.
Levels Paint Shop Pro. Histogram adjust.

PS My sons perch by the way ! He didn't realise he left it there when he left !! :frown:

Sweet little owl, great pose and stare - and the "blue" of that tire doesn't show blue here - just an interesting mix of grays, greens, and creams. I can't even tell where it is for sure - and I think my monitor is still calibrated..
Great post too, and very interesting wire - adds a lot, imo
VERY nice!

Hi John,
I like the composition here, the double diagonal line is supported by the
viewing direction of the bird. The browngrey unsharp bow around the
head of the bird works like a natural vignette.
Great!

One of the best little owl shots we've seen on here, John. Really captures the character of these fabulous birds.

A superb image John, and a wonderful intense stare. I agree with Sandy with regard to the tractor, certainly no distractions there at all.

Hope you and Jean are well...

Bertl has nailed it, the OOF tractor tyre frames the subject very nicely and the old wire adds great interest to the perch (- hope you've nabbed it John!) :toast:

The background looks fine to me, and the post is great. A lovely shot, which brings out the character of the bird.

Perhaps a bit more space at the top, but overall very good.

Great stare! I think the shape of the tyre follows the lines of the bird and I like it as a background actually.
