Hi guys,
Not sure if you remember me, but I was a member in early 09-10. I guess its the life of a "starving" student artist, but its taken me from November 2010 to save up the $49 to renew my membership!

So, without a doubt I am very excited to once again see all your work, and receive feedback on my own!! Thanks in advance!
Enough on me- this photo was taken outside of Flagstaff Arizona in the San Francisco Volcanic Range. This little lizard was sunning himself on this basaltic rock just outside of a spatter-cone volcano (can't help myself, I am a geology major!

). Anyway, he was a very patient subject and tolerated nearly 100 shots from different angles before he decided to run to a nearby rock where he wouldn't be bothered by me! So I've got a bunch of different compositions; I know this one might not appeal to everyone, but I kinda liked it!
Thanks again!

7 commentsMost lizards will typically run away but on more than one occasion I have had a collared lizard run right up to me after I gave it time to get used to my presence.
I'd love to see one of these in real life, the colours are absolutely superb! I like the detail in the head although I wish it had stretched a little further back, as I feel the DOF is a little too shallow even though you were already at f/8. I think I would have also preferred this shot in landscape/horizontal format to capture within the frame all of the back legs, OOF as they obviously would have been, though perhaps there were elements to the sides that you felt were too distracting.
Still a very nice image and I'm eager to see the other 99 shots from this series showing it from different angles ;^)
I certainly remember you - good to see you back aboard the ship. The colour here is great...and I look how the colour of the lizard works with the background colour. I really like the pose the lizard is giving you here - combined with the angle you shot it at the lizard seems ready to jump (not sure it was - or if the even do jump - just looks like it to me). I like the vertical crop here, but do find it just a bit too tight for my taste. In my perfect world I'd like to see a little more on the left side of the frame and the full feet included.
Cheers...
Brad
Very nice
