Columbines

Yes, they are past their prime - but that is all that I got for the composition I wanted. Singles I could have shot in plenty but I think twins look better than singles - at least sometimes.

The background is a bunch of Irises. A little more DOF for the frontal petal would have been nice but I did not want you to see those Irises. Compromises are sometimes inevitable.

ND200, AFD 200mm F/4 Micronikkor, F6.3, 1/40 Sec, ISO200, Tripod, Early Morning Light.

Thanks for the comments on the Ornamental Onion and do let me know what you think of this one.

Ram:
Very FINE and artistic presentation of these twins. The blue in the bg is a nice complement to the pink. The slightly OOF frontal petal is not a distraction at all. :toast:

No complaints on the focus Ram. This is as fine a columbine image as I recall seeing and you were absolutely correct to go for the double. Beautiful...

Good find Ram. When I thought about it doubles like this are fairly rare in my experience so this is a refreshing view of them. As an added bonus the BG really compliments the columbines and keep the image clean and elegant.

I agree with you that the twins are much stronger in this case than a single portrait. I actually really like that they are a little droopy, I think it completes the mood of the image (being a blue-ish image, their downward faces add to the solemness!). Beautiful as always!

Ram: IMO this is as fine a columbine image as I've seen in some time. Terrific plane of focus management and an absolutely magical BG. Many kudos.>=))>

Nice shot with the b/g blending well. Solid detail and soft pastels on the bloom. Excellent!

Very nice image Ram. IMO the DOF is excellent. May be that the blue spot at bottom-right should be remove. Well done.

Columbine are very difficult to show to their potential... but you've done it here. And the background is an excellent complement to the flowers. Love it! :toast:

Lovely, crisp rendering, Ram, as ever, with perfect colour harmonies - and a very beautiful composition.

This is lovely, Ram, and I might add, very natural looking. The myth of the perfect specimin is not my cup of tea in nature. I never did mind sharing an apple with a worm, though it's nice when it stays in it's portion.
