In the floodplains of the March, a river at the Austrian-Slovakian border. Today evening I found this pond, totally covered by greens.

Talk about a compositional challenge! I like your choice to use the arc of the foreground log in the composition, which works very well considering the complex nature of the scene. Processing also looks very good though the web sharpening is a bit strong for my tastes.

I love the perspective here with the curving branch and the vibrant greens, makes me want to sit down and listen to the forest...

This does look pretty challenging Peter, and you did very well with it. Don't think I could have pulled this off. The large version here is really worth looking at. You captured an amazing amount of detail in that. I like the light and colors too. Doesn't look like a place I want to walk through.

I like this alot It brings to my mind "primordial ooze" updated to the 21st century. This is nature without doubt. Thanks for posting this Peter.

Peter, after viewing this a second time I want to thank you heartily for showing nature "as is". We all like beautiful things as are so many of our flowers, landscapes and animals. Your image brings me to almost smelling the musty decay of vegitation, but with the most beautiful images of most posts, I am not inspired to that degree. Thumbs up on this post.

Complex scene, but the bending trunk tends to add some order. Light looks well-managed.

For what you've got here, you managed the scene quite well, Peter. The curvy trunk definitely is a great leading line to bring a little order into the chaos here. Still, it is a bit too much debris for me. Another thing is the light which is OK, but I'd like to see this one in a more dramatic kind of light. Maybe this would also introduce some shadow areas that would lessen the appearance of the little stuff on the ground.

Peter,

I'm going along with the general them here and say that I think you've done remarkably well in crafting a solid comp and image from the chaotic mess of nature we often are presented with. The curving log and the large, weathered stump work to anchor the scene, letting the viewer then explore all the fine details throughout. Nice job.

Only nit - appears slightly over sharpened to my eye; especially in the green marshy area and moss.

Excellent Peter! Not easy to make something like this work, but it does very well for me. Like Charly mentioned - looks very priomordial. I enjoy the greens and the decaying wood.

This image evokes silence. Seems it might be the quietest place on earth. There's a lot to explore here, and the curved log takes the eye through. Nice work, Peter.

I really like the perspective. The curving brach is a good lead into the scene. You managed the light well. Beautiful image
