Least Tern

This evening I kayaked in the other direction from last week and found another Least Tern colony and what may possibly soon be a Common Tern colony (which is a bit unusual as they don't generally nest together in the Northeast, and the Common Terns prefer islands, whereas this location is a spit of land). Had some real nice light, and the birds weren't aggressive which is rare with Least Terns. More to come over the next few weeks!

Lovely light and a great angle, Luke. I like the pose and the fish is a nice bonus. The reeds in the bg give a good sense of habitat. Well done.

It's amazing how terns are able to find fish so efficiently, the fish in beak here and the excited wing position is very nice. I like the bands of color in the background too. :toast:

great light here, nice bird and prey too.
A lovely, soft, "natural" image that has a great feel.

Beautiful, Luke. Nice soft lighting and a well composed scene. Next time I'd like to see the fish facing the other way. :toast:

Luke:
Ditto the comments of Dennis and Gary and I like the sand dollar (?) in the foreground.

Nice low angle and a good view of the nesting environment. The fish is a bonus. :toast:
