Golden Whistler
Lousy weather and writing reports means I haven't been out for ages. Here's one I took last year but didn't post because it was just a little bit too much a bird on a stick. Can't help where they land I suppose.

1d2n 500/f4 1.4X
ISO 400 f8 1/200 heavy overcast exp comp -1/3 almost full frame

cheers
Rob

Excellent job on the exposure, Rob. Some birds just like to perch on sticks. Go figure.

Rob, the techs on this are terrific!!! Love the colors, perch, pose as well. If I want to be super picky on the LLC, looks like some cloning was done, if not, just looks that way since it seems like a light and dark circle are next to each other on the BG. but like I said, that is being super picky...the shot overall is top notch!

If only half of all my "bird on a stick" images came out like this I'd probably take shot of nothing else ;^)

Seriously Rob, this is the kind of detail I love to see and set my own standards by, and I can't imagine how anyone could have acquired a better exposure than this to give such perfect separation between the eye and the surrounding black areas of the Whistler's head. Exceptional work my friend :^)

I have to admit I too saw that darker patch in the LLH corner that Kurt picked up on, but I would think this is a pretty easy fix and doesn't really spoil any of my enjoyment of this wonderful image.

The do not seem to listen to me when I tell them where to land for a better photograph but it is still fun getting out there (weather permitting). I really like your backgrounds as they help in bringing out feather detail. Focus look right on in the large image, excellent shot with good detail where it counts, well done.

Stunning detail. As Shakespeare had King Richard III say - A bird on a stick! a bird on a stick! my kingdom for a bird on a stick (like this one)! :toast:

Well at least it's a beautiful bird on a diagonal stick. I noticed the area in the lower left as well. Great detail here. :toast:
