Electric Coast

Coastal grasses are finally taking hold along the NH coast after a cool spring. The lighting this evening was intense, with some cool cloud formations drifting by, and a clear horizon in the west. While the sunset colors were great for the sky, I really liked the skimming of light on the rocks and grasses during this image. I haven't processed those yet. The light popping through the trees in the left corner was more luck than anything, as the trees hadn't filled in yet. I had composed with the FG in mind, so this was a pleasant and welcomed surprise. Probably filled in by now.

At first glance I missed the light coming through the tree; that is a welcome surprise. The grasses are looking good. In fact, mixed with the pond reflection and the ocean they make the right side of the photo look much better than the left to my eye..

So much to love about this one. The light through the trees is pretty special but even without it the deep greens and wonderful variety of textures in clouds and ground make this one spark. Very nice image

I wish for a bit stronger focal point and at first wasn't sold on the light but it defintely grew on me. The light beams are a sweet little find when exploring the image too. I am also thinking this could make a nice bw.

Very intriguing foreground, Harry. I missed the light beams at first but it is a nice touch.

Harry,

Super processing as usual. I like the comp and colors too. The sky looks a bit dark to me on the right and I detect slightly noticeable green tint in the clouds on the left and around the center of the horizon. I am glad to see this image. Very unique and evocative.

Fantastic comp and light, Harry. While the leaning tree in the upper left hints at the distortion, this scene is superbly done all around.

Thanks Michael - I'll take a look at those clouds in the original file and see what is going on there. The grasses seem a bit subdued on the web upload, they were actually much more vibrant than they appear here.

John - A later shot post sunset was composed without much of the left and may better suite your taste- I'll upload in a day or two. Thanks!
