Had some nifty weather here this week. Went out to one of my favorite areas on the Casper Arch, and managed to see this lil guy after a crazy arse storm blew through.

Would be happy to discuss any of the processing what nots for anyone interested, just ask.

Thanks for any advice or feedback.

Whoa! So much to like here. The rainbow with the dramatic clouds behind is obvious, but I really like the chaos below. The dappled light on the brush and grass mixes really well with the bits of color from the flowers. That sliver of distant land forms a nice bridge between. I would have been tempted to crowd one of those flowers, but I think this works much better.

Very nice! :toast:

Fantastic capture Nicolaus, .....but what I want to know, is did you find the pot-o-gold?

The detail and light in the foreground are spectacular as is the drama in the sky.

Thanks guys.

Hahah, Eva, I almost got it this time, but the unfortunate thing about Wyoming is we have checker board state, blm, and private lands. I'm pretty sure I saw the gold, but a rancher had a fence up just beyond the hill...maybe next time. ;]

Sweet sky! Im biased towards storms (will be chasing next few days--possibly up your way) so personally id crop the bottom for thirds, even tho i like the red flowers up front the bow is stronger and plus you get rid of the brown stuff by cropping. Very nice!

For a busy image there is a lot to like here. The colors and textures all work very well together.

This ones a stunner for sure!
I would have been inclined to crop the foreground up to above the bare patch.
Other than that superb!!

This is awesome Nicolaus! The clouds and light alone would have been nice, but then you got this fantastic rainbow! :toast:
Reminds me of one I saw in Upper MI over a lake last fall. Really nice!

Very nice, like the framing of brighter clouds by the complete rainbow. Really interesting atmospheric effect on the mood of the photograph... Small nit : patch of flowers to the right, touching the frame - they are lighter than grass and attract attention when studying.

The light on the foreground makes this sing. The full bow and clouds are just more great layers. Well done!

This has Wyoming written all over it. Crazy weather and the great wide open. I would use a highlight burn on the lower-right corner and mid-tone or highlight dodge towards the center of the landscape under the rainbow, increasing the visual flow towards the center. Very nice catch.

Very nice, a complete bow, a very dramatic sky, and an interesting foreground. I especially like the wildflowers in the foreground and the grasses that look to be bowed by a strong wind.

Sorry for not replying sooner Zack. If you read this It is a two image blend. As some people noted the bent grass, it was super windy and raining, with a small amount of hail, so I had to take the foreground at ISO 800 f/16 1/160 sec. Mid and clouds/background at ISO 100 f/16 1/13 sec.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Michael, I'm not too surprised this has not gotten more comments, most of my stuff usually doesn't, which is ok by me. But the people who have commented are many of the photogs whose work I respect most, so I'm very happy with that.

Aside from the obviously nice rainbow, the sky is very moody and as it is nearly monochromatic it provides a strong juxtaposition to the colors found in the foreground and the rainbow. Nice job!
