YCNH - Brazos Bend

Yellow Crowned Night Heron at Brazos Bend State Park. It was 105 degrees in the Houston area Sunday so the birds were looking for any shade they could find - me too! Kind of a messy background, but that's all I had to work with.

1DMK4, 600mm, 1/250 @ f5.6, ISO 640, tripod, 90% of FF

Really like the detail in the wing and neck of the larger version. Also like the long head feathers flying out the back. BG doesn't bother me although I'd try to tone down the brightness of the leaf coming out the top of the head.

Nice detail in this YCNH. They always look so pensive. I really like the position of the feathers here.

A pleasing image overall. Good detail in the heron.

The BG isn't a problem for me. I like Steve's suggestion to tone down the bright leaf at the top of the head and while doing so, I would also tone down the white crown just a tad. I like the habitat aspects of this shot.
