Olympus E-5, 300mm x 2.0TC, tripod
f6.3, 1/640, ISO200

Another photo from the Denali Highway at Rock Creek Bridge. This guy was working at establishing his territory, singing against the noise of the creek and a 30 mph wind. The background is the eastern Alaska Range. I don't think I've seen this subarctic-breeding species posted here often.

Cropped to vertical. Lightened slightly. Usual sharpening drill.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Nice detail in the face and head. I like the way you handled the BG, but a bit too much twigs, sort of distracts. Nice pose. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pose you captured, and I really like the cool background. Might just be me, but the shadows still seem a bit dark. I like the shot either way!

I don't recall seeing a photo of this species here either, makes me want to take a birding trip up the Denali. All your techs look excellent Jim. I do feel that the image would be stronger if the dark tree stem wasn't directly behind his head. You got a very good head turn and simple, uncluttered comp. :toast:

Outstanding view of a rarely posted species, one I've never seen. Techs are great. Nice pose.
