Fresh Muntjac

A first for me a rather fresh Muntjac (Barking Deer), who we were lucky enough to spot with its Mum in the undergrowth in Bandhavgargh. Even more lucky in that it wandered into the relative open, but the light was not too good.

Taken in Bandhavgargh National Park, India 28th April 2011

EOS 1D MkIV
500mm F4 IS hand-held from vehicle

F5.6, ISO 1600, 1/200

Great job. Very good sharpness and detail. Certainly is a very young muntjac which comes through in this image. Thanks for sharing.

Despite the flat light the colors are very pleasant and the details excellent. I had never seen muntjac before. Thank you for sharing.

Lots of great detail here. This deer is new to me so I appreciate all the detail, also the stance. Looks like its ready to spring away, an on the verge of action image. Nice one, Ken.

A natural poser! You captured the fragile nature of this young life very nicely. Cute little animal.

A very lucky sighting indeed, even more lucky was that we got the driver to stop, for what is clearly not a Tiger

We used to have wild Muntjacs in the woods near our old cottage in Cambridgeshire, strange as this may seem, these Deer were imported into UK to "decorate" the lawns of country houses and some escaped to form wild populations.

Thanks for your kind comments greatly appreciated
