The lighting, colors and settings all team up to make this a superb portrait of a beautiful subject Charlie. Wonderfully captured.

Very powerful composition, Charlie, and wonderfully rich colouring ! The sharpness and textures are just superb. I can see why this is your favourite among the irises.

I love the rich color Charlie as well as the bg. It seems to me to be the perfect color complement to the flower. I think your composition emphasizes the bilateral symmetry in the subject and being a symmetry junkie that really appeals to me. Gorgeous subject and presentation.

Charlie: Got a nice little -meter spike on this one! I like this very much as is and would also consider a small crop from the top to fill the upper frame a bit more like the bottom. I would not crop away all of the BG as that would make the top too tight for the upper beard. Your lighting is absolutely perfect as is the color rendition. Striking subject superbly rendered. >=))>

To me the background at the top is essential for this composition - the back petal gives it a feeling of greater depth. Lovely colors and fantastic depth of field. Lovely work, Charlie :toast:

Thank you all for really nice comments, Bill and Ram I did some cropping variations and decided not to post other variations because at this point I prefer the posted version. I'll fool some more and if I come up with another that is better I'll post it.

Thanks again, all.

Charlie, I'm grinning at your title. :) These are some of the richest colors I can imagine, and the light is wonderful. In the larger version you can see the beauty of the textures so well.
