Willet

It's been depressingly dreary around here all spring but this week we're finally getting some good light. Yesterday morning I found this Willet jumping from one rock to another. Some won't like the twig poking into the frame at bottom but it doesn't bother me too much so I decided to leave it be.

7D, 1/2500, f/7.1, ISO 500, 500 f/4, 1.4 tc, shot from pickup window on 6/1/11, cropped to 52% of original image, very slight exposure adjustment in ACR, sharpened bird and perch, no additional processing or adjustments, natural light, not set up or baited

Great POV of the action Ron, sharp details..Looks like plenty of light at 1/2500th, must've been a nice sunny morning. And what's not to like about this pose
Well done! :toast:

Great action, Ron. I love the leaping pose. and the bg works with the colors of the bird and the rocks.

LOL! Nice catch! Good action, fine detail and your usual pefection.
I'd personally get rid of the twig, but it's always your choice.
Sure hope you get to spring before summer's half over! Dreary and wet here too - and rain in June is very unusual in California.

Whimsical pose by the bird. Lots of nice detail and great freeze on the action. I might do just a bit of noise reduction on the background.

What excellent timing you had Ron, an absolutely marvelous capture, and so pleased to see the catchlight in the larger version I could not discern in the smaller one, all very nice indeed :^)

Re the twig poking into the frame: Have to say if it were mine I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation of removing it, ever so slight as the distraction it ;^)

The leaping pose really makes this one Ron. Nice and sharp on the bird and perch. We have experienced our share of "precipitation" here as well, it does help to control exposures and with the detail however - if you can keep your camera dry. Fun image Ron. :toast:

Ron, really nice action, nice details, nice colors and nice everything. Had you not mentioned the twig I would have not seen it. Besides, nature without twigs would be a very sad place... Thanks for sharing! :toast:

Great action/behavior image, Ron. I really like the sharpness of all three major elements here, the bird and the two rocks. The complimentary bg just add to it.

Nice action pose with this 'rock hopping Willet'. I like the balance with rocks in each corner, wonderful background and good detail on the larger image, excellent job, well done.

Neat action shot - sharp and good eye contact. The color and texture of the rocks blend in well with the bird and nice BG. I would leave the twig. I don't find it distracting and see no reason to remove it.

Pefect timing as well as your great angle Ron. Sharp where needed and I didn't even see the twig as I was focused on those running feet!

Ron, this image makes me smile. It's great technically, really nice light and BG and foreground and sharpness. It's also great action. But the best thing about it to me is that it makes me smile. :)
