Yeah, sorry about the title, it's been a long day!
Appreciate any thoughts on this one, I'm thinking possibly a square crop may work better to eliminate some of the water, but I quite like it as is. I'll post another, shot 5 mins later below, with more muted lighting, interested in people's preference.

Both look nice, but I prefer the second version as the light looks more even and a little brighter. Love the wet rocks.

For me it's no contest. The second version is much stronger. The light is simply better and allows the colors and textures of the rocks, water, and sky to really define the shot.

Great composition at what looks to be an interesting location. The light on the rocks does it for me in the first version, although the bright spot in the sky is a little distracting. The second version is technically perfect but doesn't seem quite as striking without that warm light on the rocks.

Neale,

Absolutely love the light here. Even though we can't see the sun, it's that condition that creates great lighting where the vast majority of the sky is in a dark stormy mood, then the sun breaks out in all it's glory. Ooh, I just saw the second image. Yikes, quite a different mood but equally, perhaps even more beautiful. Love them both. The only nit/suggestion I have is for the first image. I would tone down and desat a little bit the hole in the sky just to make it less of an attraction/distraction from the rocks and light. Otherwise, these are both keepers and beautiful ones at that.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I personally liked the 1st one more for the light on the rocks. I've tried toning down that hole in the sky already but will put some more time into it. Just when I was getting swayed by popular opinion to the 2nd one, Kah Kit has pushed me back the other way a little! Well at least I've decided something......to keep both, thanks again all.

My vote is also for the second, though both are very nice. I love the light here. The sky is a little distracting in the first version but in the second version, I think it makes a nice foil for the drama of the rocks. Great job

Really nice shot Neale. I do like both of these. I have gone back and forth looking at them and i do like the warm light on the rocks in the first one. The sky and water in the second look beautiful to me and I prefer the over all feel of it over the first one.
Second one for me if I only picked one, but you have both!

Probably no-one looking at this by now, but here's a reworking of the original posted image with better (I think) handling of the highlights.
