I found a more intimate image of the Avocet Family swimming.

Cropped to 60% of full frame.

Comments are appreciated.

I like the sharpness and detail of this image. The comp. makes a nice family scene.

Lovely family portrait Harry, and great to have such clear reflections of mom and pop :^)

I'm left wondering though what f-stop you'd have needed to get the chicks in focus too. F/8 seems to have worked fine for the parents, perhaps f/11 or f/13 would have done the trick.

Sweet family group.
I've rarely seen Avocets swimming - perhaps they are giving lessons to the little ones!
Perfect exposure and nice reflections - an F-stop of 13-16 would have been my choice to get everyone in focus.
Nice capture nontheless!

Nice portrait of the family Harry. I agree a bit more DOF to get the chicks in focus would have been ideal.

Nice reflection and I like the fact you got all 4 in the scene.

LP looks very good Harry, nice job on the comp. I think the DOF works fine, at this angle you could never bring the chicks in anyway. I know it's part of the birds reflection, but I might consider removing the bit above the second adults head, just a thought.
Great colors, exposure, and details - The clear/well defined reflections add well too :toast:

Great shot Harry. Did you take this the day we were together at San Joaquin?
