Oh Mom !!!

This one brought a smile to my face. Mom has lifted her cub off the ground while grooming her. A sibling with huge paws looks on. We had a great spring in Washington DC at the National Zoo with our pride of lions.

Nikon D300 F5 1/1000 ISO 200 with Nikon 70-200.

Comments and critiques please.

Beautiful family portrait Andrew :^) The lick and the expression on junior's face are simply marvelous, and the fact that you also have a sibling along in the shot too is an additional bonus, very nice and thanks for sharing :^)

Excellent intimate portrait!
I guess NO little boys like their faces washed!
Great angle to catch all this, nice comp and fine detail.
Nice!

 Very nice Andrew, you pressed the shutter button at exactly the right moment. A bit more natural BG would have been nice.

The light is nice which gives gives good color. The look on the cubs face makes the image.

Great shot and perfect timing. I love the cubs expression. Do the colors look a little flat? Maybe some adjustments in levels and saturation might bring them out.

Captive situations are very difficult to work with, because of the need to eliminate unnatural elements in your chosen perspective. In this case I am wishing you could have been a little more to the right.
