This flower caught my eye while on a garden trail at Hawk Mountain.
Everything growing here is native to the area, just fenced in so the deer can't browse.

Tech specs: canon 7d, 24-105@104mm -2/3 stop, ISO 100, f4, 1/25 sec, monopod,

C&C is appreciated

Beautiful color Neven. Fine composition as well. My only reservation about the image is the bright band that runs behind the flower and I find it a touch distracting. Otherwise a very fine image for my tastes.

Columbine are, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful flowers. However, they aren't easy to photograph, especially growing in the wild. This columbine is well captured. As Pat previously mentioned, the light line running diagonally behind it is distracting.

The comp, colors, and detail are very good. I like the image. But I am partial to wildflowers as apposed to domestic flowers. I agree that the image would be stronger without the white line going through the flower.

Neven, the details of the Columbine really pop out. Great job. Only sorry you didn't include a larger image. Would suggest working the background with a subtle hand and soft brush to eliminate some of the distracting lights in the very OOF portions. Then I think you would have a great image.

Cheers,

Carol

The wild columbine is a difficult subject because its delicate stem is blown so easily by the wind. Nice job isolating a single bloom and capturing it in sharp focus. I wish the light stem behind the flower would disappear. Otherwise a very nice presentation. :wavey:

Neven:
Beautiful capture of the bloom. This may also work with a portrait mode, cropping away the right portion which is not contributing much to the image.

Really beautiful, Neven !! Love the sharp capture of the flower itself, with its striking colouring on the green bg. The composition i also like, though I wonder if a slight crop from the R might bring the flower into even greater prominence ? It's a fine image whatever.

Thanks everyone for the great criticism! I love hearing it as it does help! I tried to work on the points you all mentioned. Is this any better?

Neven: Sorry to be so late to this party but in a way I'm glad I waited for the repost which is just excellent. Really nice capture to begin with and some fine processing work.>=))>
