Captive Golden Eagle

I visited Northwest Trek, a wildlife sanctuary of 400+ forested acres. They rehab injured birds...eagles, hawks, owls...etc. Many, if not all, were flightless due to injury. Quite informative and dedicated tour-guides made the visit a delight as we were able to see many birds up close and pepper the guides with questions which they patiently answered.

This close up reminded me why eagles are often the emblem for many Armed Forces Units and patches. In honor of our fallen ... on this Memorial Day, enjoy.
