Snowy Egret

D300, 500mm f/4 + 1.7x tc, 1/1250 s, f/6.7, ISO 400. Tripod. Cropped to 60% of Full Frame. The original includes a partial reflection of the bird which is not attractive and therefore I removed it. Sharpening, exposure and saturation adjustments done using CS5. Photo taken about 45 minutes after sunrise on July 21, 2010 at a small pool on the sound side of Opal Beach in Pensacola, FL.
Comments and suggestions most welcome.

All of the white Egrets show best in light as you had here - you should be proud of this one!

I like this. Looks like he's going somewhere!
I have the same trouble with reflections at my pool site. You have to include them all or nothing. Hate em

Spectacular lighting you've caught on this one David :^)

If this were mine it would be a definite candidate for adding canvas too, along the LH side and upper edges. I like the pano but the subject just feels a little too constricted in the frame.

David,
I love the intense stare of the egret and the raised leg. Great light and detail. Excellent work. :toast:

The dude is doing some serious stalking. Love that huge yellow foot poised in mid stride. Light is great, as well as the techs.

Fine shot, Dave. That's a really cool "stealth" pose you got on this snowy.

Large version shows very well, David. Love the stealthy walk, and the detail came through very well in this light.

Fabulous pose - especially the tension, and exposure is spot on.

Gorgeous. The pose captured that characteristic egret ready to-pounce-look.

Excellent work with lights and details. In MO some more room on top and left could help.

Cheers, Luca
