South Texas. March, 2011.

D3. ISO 400. 300/2.8 with 2x tc. f6.3 1/1600s. Gitzo with Wimberly head from a blind. About 50% FF. Only cropped left and right.

He suddenly came in really close and I had a little too much lens, but I loved the close up, eye bulging contact he made.

Sure did come in close, but better than too far away. What I like about this besides the awesome eye is that head lift and curve of the beak, and how the outstretched left leg anchors the image.

Good job of adjusting to the sudden change in distance. The vivid eye really grabs the viewer's attention.
