I've been having a bit of trouble lately trying to find some good light and comps.A return trip to this location yeilded better clouds but the light didn't live up to my expectations.

Thanks for the suggestions, see the repost.

Dean, I feel your pain, the weather lately has not been kind to us has it? Your image reflects the dark brooding spring weather very well.

Dean,

I think you did very well in balancing the light between the foreground rock, the lake and sky. And I like Adam's description of the "dark, brooding spring." The only suggestions I have would be maybe some global brightening - just a little, I wouldn't want to take away from the brooding atmosphere. I might consider a slight crop of the top open sky. And lastly, definitely need to level the lake horizon.

You've captured a mood that perhaps matched your own mood and expectations, but I think it works pretty well.

Hi Dean - I really like the drama in the sky and the overall darkness of the image. This looks like quite an interesting place and the composition keeps me interested. I agree with Lon's suggestions for some small tweaks.

Yes the second version is an improvement to my eye, it seems more brooding and sinister which suits the angular foreground rocks well.
