WC#284 West Fork

A few miles upstream from the famed red rocks of Sedona is the canyon of West Fork of Oak Creek. It is a popular hiking trail and is especially so in the fall when the maples and sycamores are changing colors.

Beautiful shot Doug. Good job keeping the detail in the shaded area and rock with the brighter trees. I'm looking forward spending a couple of days shooting in Oak Creek next month.

An absolutely wonderful photo. :jump: And absolutely nothing would be changed if it were mine.

Hi Doug,
Beautiful place, I really like the contrast between the left and right side of the photo and the fall colors reflected on the water. Really nice!

Beautiful shot with great colors Doug. Thanks for the hint about Oak Creek. I plan to be out there this winter and was planning some time at Sedona. Now I can stop there as well!

I really like the intensity and shapness of the red rock against the soft greens and golds of the trees. The reflections really tie those elements together. Plus I like the symbolism of the water as an agent of erosion and sustenance for the elements in the image. :toast:

Thank you for the comments.
Walt, if it snows when you are in Sedona this winter, West Fork is really nice with a blanket of white.

Love the colour contrasts - red rocks and yellow trees and leaves.
Excellent reflection , perspective, and comp.
Well done!

Something about the red rocks around Sedona. Haven't been there in ages, and it was before I became interested again in Photography.
Strong composition though it's not traditional, as the looming wall could overwhelm the image, but the open shadow and the fall color balance well with it and the little bend around the rock beckons your eye and imagination into the image.

Doug, your composition confronting the mighty rocks and the delicate foliage is very impressive to me. Technically excellent to my eye, I feel a three-dimensional quality that makes it come to life.
