Cattle Egrets vying for the Preferred Perch. Photo taken May 15, 2011 at Jefferson Island, Louisiana. Several nests were near this location and I enjoyed watching the Cattle Egret battle for this perch.
Cropped to 70% of full frame to remove the partial image of another bird on the right. D300, 300mm f/4 + 1.4x tc, 1/3200 s, f/8, ISO 320.
Comments and suggestions most welcome.

Really cool interaction. Interesting how universal the "look" of the raised crest in victory and the flattened one in defeat. Applies to almost all living things in some way.

Good stuff!

I really like the two poses of the birds and the nice breeding plumage. Exposure looks good and the habitat is nice. Green BG is great for showing off these birds.

Outstanding capture David, I admire how well you handled the exposure and whites of these. The nicely detailed pair against the darker fore and backgrounds is very pleasing. Well done!

Fine action and beautiful exposure, David. Possibly could use a little more room on the LHS...but that's just a nit. Lovely shot.
